Review: Abangan

The Filipino comic industry has been very actively lately. Once again, they are populating the shelves of bookstores and magazine stands. With so many komiks being published right now, the release of Abangan couldn't have been more appropriate.

ABANGAN: The Best Philippine Komiks 2014 brings together the works of comic book writers and artists into one book. The cover shows you a glimpse of the characters that are involved in the stories. Inside you'll find some of the most famous current komiks titles today. This is helpful to those who want to get to the komiks scene but unsure about where to start. Inside you'll see whole stories or sometime just excerpts from the komiks. People will be able to see different types of storytelling and be awestruck in the art that compliments the stories. My personal favorites were Diwata, Trese: Thirteen Stations, Darwin's Association of Delicious Evilness, and Dead Balagtas. The editors are now accepting submissions for ABANGAN: The Best Philippine Komiks 2015.
